Victor Bonilla's Aruzi
Flower Child CoffeeAbout This Coffee
This coffee comes from Finca La Chorrera in La Argentina, Huila, Colombia, at 1,900 meters above sea level. The farm is managed by Víctor Alfonso Bonilla, a third-generation coffee grower and Q-Grader, with 3.5 hectares dedicated solely to the exotic Bourbon Aruzi variety with over 5,500 trees in production. The coffee is washed processed, with selectively harvested ripe cherries de-pulped on the same day, fermented in sealed barrels for 36-40 hours, washed with an Eco-Mill, and dried in marquesinas for 15-18 days. In the cup, it exhibits a medium-plus body, medium-plus sweetness, and mellow acidity with flavor notes of black cherry, chocolate, and date, offering a balanced profile of dried fruit, condensed sugars, and a buttery texture.

Flower Child Coffee
Prestin Yoder founded Flower Child as a small roasting and green buying project after years working in specialty coffee. The operation runs out of Oakland, focusing on limited releases rather than a permanent lineup. Yoder roasts light but fully developed targeting clarity, and sources directly from farmers. The emphasis on farmer compensation and ongoing dialogue with producing partners shapes both the selection and the pricing. Coffees are curated for cleanliness, vibrancy, and origin expression, with lots from Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi, Colombia, or Ecuador appearing frequently.
