Rwanda Abadatezuka Coop
Coffee PiratesAbout This Coffee
A single origin coffee from the Abadatezuka Cooperative, a collective of smallholder farmers in the Western Province of Rwanda, adjacent to Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe Forest. Cherries are delivered to the Cyato washing station in the Nayamasheke district, founded in 2017. Farmers cultivate coffee at altitudes up to 2,200 meters above sea level, with the station itself located at 1,850 meters. The fertile black humus and sandy soil, cool lake-influenced climate, and bee-assisted pollination contribute to flavor notes of red currant, raisin, oolong tea, grapefruit, mint, chocolate chips, and vanilla. Farmers use no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

Coffee Pirates
Werner Savernik and Evelyn Priesch founded Coffee Pirates in 2012, establishing one of the first organic-certified third-wave roasteries in Vienna. Their philosophy is a fight against bad coffee, aiming to reintroduce the idea of roasting as a wonderful craft that highlights the unique flavors of different origins. They are deeply committed to building direct, long-term relationships with the farmers and cooperatives they source from.
