Seth Taylor Coffee

About This Coffee

This coffee is from the Don Joel Micromill in Costa Rica's West Valley region, owned by Allan Oviedo. The farm spans 12 hectares and is named after Allan's father, Joel Oviedo. This lot features the SL-28 variety, which originated from Tanzanian Bourbon seeds selected in Kenya in the 1930s for drought resistance and exceptional quality. The coffee is double washed - cherries are depulped and mechanically washed, then dried using a drum dryer. Grown at altitudes between 1250-1380 meters above sea level, this coffee offers flavor notes of white pepper, honey, and yellow apple. The harvest period is from January to April.

Seth Taylor Coffee

Seth Taylor put his own name on this Montreal micro roastery, establishing a personal, hands on approach that extends from direct relationships with producers to origin travel and intimate cuppings. Starting as a pop up before settling in Mile End, the operation remains deliberately small, with limited production runs that prioritize quality over volume. Roasting is done in small batches with light to medium profiles showcasing origins from Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, Kenya, and El Salvador. The roastery primarily operates as a production facility rather than a bustling cafe, supplying select Montreal specialty cafes through a focused wholesale program. A subscription service with personalized selections reflects Seth's belief that coffee is best when it carries the personal touch of someone who genuinely cares about every step.
