BURUNDI Nemba FIL
Way Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
This single-origin coffee is from the Kayanza region in northern Burundi, grown at approximately 1,700 meters altitude near the Kibila forest. The coffee is Red Bourbon variety, handpicked during the March to July harvest season. It is fully washed at the Nemba washing station, which has over 200 raised drying beds. The processing includes sorting, pulping within 6 hours, dry fermentation for up to 12 hours, multiple soaking stages totaling 24-42 hours, and drying on raised beds for 2-3 weeks. The coffee features vibrant citrus acidity with lime and orange notes, ripe red berries in the mid-palate, and a long finish with dark chocolate characteristics. This is an IMPACT verified coffee supporting biodiversity protection, local community development, microcredit access, and women's entrepreneurship.

Way Coffee Roasters
WAY Coffee Roasters was founded in Ghent in 2013 by Charlene De Buysere and Stoffel Vandenabeele, making them pioneers of the city's specialty coffee movement. Their roasting philosophy is centered on transparency and celebrating the bean's origin, which is why they prefer lighter roasts. This method allows the nuanced and delicate flavors developed at the farm level to truly shine through.
