Thunguri

About This Coffee

This coffee comes from the Thunguri Factory, a washing station in the foothills of Mt. Kenya, near Karatina in Nyeri County, Central Kenya. Thunguri is one of eight mills within the Kibirigwi Farmers Co-operative Society, with over 1,000 producers delivering cherry from nearby villages. Established in 1962, the factory sits at over 1,600 meters above sea level. The varieties grown are mainly SL28, SL34, and K7, with a small percentage of Ruiru 11. The coffee is washed processed with dry fermentation for 20-24 hours, then washed, density-graded, and soaked for 48 hours before drying on raised beds for 1-3 weeks. The cup profile features yuzu, bergamot, honeycomb sweetness, golden raisins, and red grape with bright, concentrated acidity and citrus-driven character.

Fieldwork Coffee

Tim Williams founded this modern Australian micro-roastery in 2015 (originally as Bureaux, rebranded in 2022) with a mission to champion what he believes are the world's best coffees. Fieldwork's philosophy focuses exclusively on washed process coffees, prizing clarity, sweetness, and sense of place across their entire range. Williams' approach emphasizes connecting customers with conscientiously grown, seasonally sourced coffees that speak clearly to their origins, representing the farmers who nurture these exceptional beans.
