RWANDA - NYAMYUMBA | espresso
Gust Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
This washed Bourbon coffee comes from the Nyamyumba Washing Station in Rubavu, Nyamyumba, Western Province of Rwanda. Grown at 1742 meters altitude in nutrient-rich volcanic clay soils along the Congo Nile trail, the coffee is produced by smallholder farmers with farm sizes averaging 0.1-0.3 hectares. Each farmer maintains roughly 400 trees. The Nyamyumba station, built in 2006, has the capacity to process up to 496 tons of cherry annually. Farmers selectively handpick the cherries, which are then floated and hand-sorted to remove defects. The coffee features a creamy caramel and toffee texture with notes of crispy red apple and pink grapefruit, along with brown sugar, citrus, and berry notes. Roasted to a medium profile for espresso.
