About This Coffee

This single origin coffee is from the Kii factory in Kirinyaga, Kenya, operated by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society. The cooperative serves approximately 1,215 small producer members who have been growing coffee since 1953. The coffee is grown at altitudes between 1,600-1,900 meters above sea level. The varieties include SL-28, SL-34, Ruiru-11, and Batian. This is an AA grade lot that is fully washed, with cherries being depulped after sorting, fermented overnight, washed with fresh river water, and dried in full sun. The coffee scores 88.25 on the quality scale and features vibrant, fruity characteristics with notes of apricot, raspberry, and honey. Harvested from October to January.

Their approach is founded on transparency, and since 2018, they have published the "farmgate" price they pay directly to producers.
