Ethiopia Yukro #11
Detour Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
Yukro is grown by 579 smallholder farmers in the Agaro region of Oromia, in the Jimma zone of Western Ethiopia. The coffee is from the Wanja Kersa kebele in Geera woreda, home to the Yukro washing station. Farms are located at altitudes ranging from 1800 to 2200 meters above sea level. The harvest occurs from mid-October to late January, making Agaro coffees among the first Ethiopian coffees harvested each year. The region is characterized by high rainfall throughout the growing season. Coffee is cultivated on very small farms ranging from 0.1 to 2 hectares with intercropping of false banana trees and maize for shade. The area has highly fertile sandy loam soil that retains moisture well and drains effectively.
