OR Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This coffee originates from the Bona Zuria district in the Sidama region of Ethiopia, cultivated at 2190 meters altitude. Founded by Ayele Tulu in 2014, the Ayele Tulu washing station processes cherries from his five-hectare farm and 600 small farmers in the area. The coffee is fully washed, with ripe cherries sorted, pulped, thoroughly washed, and dried on raised African beds in the shade. Harvest occurs from November to January. The beans achieve 10-12% moisture content before milling and export. The flavor profile features chamomile, apricot, and lime notes with a medium acidity and thin body.

OR Coffee Roasters

OR Coffee Roasters was established in 2001 by Tom Janssen and Katrien Pauwels, making it one of the foundational specialty roasters in Belgium. What began in a small garage in Aalst grew into a respected name with spaces in Ghent and Brussels. Their core mission is built on direct trade, with roughly 95 percent of their coffee sourced through direct fair trade relationships with farmers. They travel to origin to select their coffees, ensuring quality and ethical practices, and their roasting style brings out the unique characteristics of each origin through both accessible blends and more adventurous single origin lots.
