Basha Bekele, Ethiopia
Seven Seeds Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
This sun-dried natural processed coffee is produced by Basha Bekele from the Bensa Highlands in Sidama, Ethiopia, at 2300 meters above sea level. Basha Bekele won the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence with a score of 90.50 in his first competition entry. This lot features mixed varieties and is naturally processed. The coffee offers elegant florals, wonderful texture, and flavor notes of lemonade, cherry, and pineapple. The Bensa Highlands region has experienced climate shifts over the past fifty years creating ideal conditions for coffee cultivation, with high altitude limiting water access and resulting in a preference for natural processing. This is the fifth year of purchasing from this producer, with a lot size of 900kg harvested between November and December.

Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters
Established in 2007 by Mark Dundon and Bridget Amor, Seven Seeds was created to embody the ideals of exceptional and transparent coffee.A pioneer in Melbourne's coffee scene, the company's name honors the story of Baba Budan, who smuggled seven coffee seeds from Yemen, breaking the Arabic world's cultivation monopoly. Their approach is founded on transparency, and since 2018, they have published the "farmgate" price they pay directly to producers. They focus on building partnerships with producers, whom they see as professional colleagues.
