This blend is a half-caff coffee described as a Washed (processed) blend marketed with tasting notes of roasted hazelnut, brown sugar, and graham cracker. It is promoted as a two-origin blend designed for a balanced cup with moderate body and clean aftertaste.
Established in 2013 as part of Jacob McKean's Modern Times Beer brewery in San Diego's Point Loma neighborhood, this operation roasts coffee on a beautiful 15 kilogram Giesen roaster while maintaining a full scale 30 barrel brewery. Though beer production launched first, coffee roasting began simultaneously, and both operations have grown alongside one another with equal passion and precision. Modern Times Coffee operates primarily from The Invigatorium, a retro futurist coffee house in San Diego's East Village, proving that a roastery can thrive as an integral part of a larger creative beverage enterprise.
