This coffee is a single-origin SL28 variety from Finca Betania in the Huila region of Colombia, grown at an altitude of 2000 meters. It undergoes an anaerobic washed process, where cherries are depulped and fermented for 32 hours before being fully washed and dried on raised beds. The flavor profile is bright and sweet, featuring notes of lemonade, kiwi, and cherry blossom. This light roast coffee offers a vibrant and structured cup with distinct tropical complexity.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
