This coffee is produced by Central Sumatera Coffee at their Bener Meriah Estate in the Aceh Province of Indonesia, grown at an altitude of 1200-1800 meters. It is a Typica variety processed using a unique wet-hulled method combined with yeast inoculation and the addition of jasmine flowers during fermentation. This light roast offers a delicate, tea-like profile with tasting notes of jasmine tea, apricot, and cedar. It provides a balanced cup with lower acidity and distinct floral sensations.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
