Ethiopian single-origin whole bean coffee from the Gedeo Zone, specifically the Chelchele area in the Gedeb district, grown by smallholder farmers at 1900-2300 meters elevation. Processed using the Supernatural method, featuring anaerobic fermentation in carbon fiber drums for 7-10 days at 15-18°C followed by slow drying on raised beds. Varieties 74110 and 74112. Medium roast with tasting notes of blueberry muffin, chocolate chip cookie, cooked blueberries, and sugary caramel.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
